The Mt St John Purification Plant is part of the Wastewater Upgrade Program (WUP) undertaken by Hunter Water Australia and Townsville City Council.
The strategy involved combing the sewage from several plants into one new plant at Mt St John, and has resulted in savings of over $80M compared to previous augmentation strategies.
Armidale Dumaresq Council and Hunter Water Australia have recently upgraded the Armidale Water Treatment Plant to include ozonation and biological filtration processes as a barrier to organic contaminants such as algal toxins, and taste and odour compounds.
This award winning plant provides the Armidale community with a safer, more aesthetically pleasing drinking water.
